This publication brings together the EITI’s requirements for implementing the EITI. It includes the EITI Principles, Criteria, the EITI Validation Guide and Policy Notes issued by the EITI Secretariat, conveying decisions taken by the EITI Board. It does not change earlier agreed policies.

Validation Fact Sheet

EITI Validation is EITI's quality assurance mechanism that all implementing countries must undertake in order to become EITI Compliant. A four page fact sheet with an overview of EITI Validation is available here.

Communications Guide

This Communications Guide is for everyone involved in implementing or supporting the implementation of the EITI.

It starts from the premise that effective communication is an essential though often neglected aspect of EITI implementation. The guide has been written for people who may not be communications specialists but who may have some responsibility for communications work.

DRAFT of EITI Good Practice note no 1: EITI reporting

This is a draft of an EITI Good Practice Note on EITI reporting that provides lessons learned and good practices about how countries can improve their EITI Reports.

The EITI Good Practice Notes provide examples of ways implementing countries can improve implementation. Good Practice examples are not intended to elaborate EITI requirements. Requirements for EITI Compliance are found in the EITI Rules. The EITI Good Practice Notes describe practices that go beyond the basic requirements for EITI Compliance.

EITI Case Study - Addressing the roots of Liberia's conflict through EITI

Liberia has been in the process of implementing the EITI since 2006. The impacts demonstrate that the benefits of the EITI to the country are extensive. In this case study, Negbalee Warner, Head of the LEITI Secretariat, and Eddie Rich, Deputy Head of the EITI International Secretariat, offer their reflections on the contribution of the EITI process to the creation of sustainable development and post-conflict reconciliation in Liberia.

EITI Guide for Legislators

Legislators can play several critical roles in making sure EITI is established and works effectively, and this guide shows how. Its first objective is to introduce the EITI process. The second is to offer specific suggestions about how a legislator may contribute to the EITI process in your country.

Advancing the EITI in the Mining Sector

This publication is part of our efforts to further the understanding of the sector and respond to the mining-specific challenges for EITI implementation.

14 out of the 24 EITI Candidate countries are mining countries and 23 out of 40 companies supporting the EITI are mining companies.

Progress Report 2007-2009
