EITI Rules including the Validation Guide

This publication brings together the EITI’s requirements for implementing the EITI. It includes the EITI Principles, Criteria, the EITI Validation Guide and Policy Notes issued by the EITI Secretariat, conveying decisions taken by the EITI Board. It does not change earlier agreed policies.

EITI Fact Sheet

The EITI Fact Sheet is a concise four-page introduction to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

Validation Fact Sheet

EITI Validation is EITI's quality assurance mechanism that all implementing countries must undertake in order to become EITI Compliant. A four page fact sheet with an overview of EITI Validation is available here.

Endorsements

This document highlights some of the endorsements the EITI has won from countries, companies and organisations.

Communications Guide

This Communications Guide is for everyone involved in implementing or supporting the implementation of the EITI.

It starts from the premise that effective communication is an essential though often neglected aspect of EITI implementation. The guide has been written for people who may not be communications specialists but who may have some responsibility for communications work.

EITI Guide for Legislators

Legislators can play several critical roles in making sure EITI is established and works effectively, and this guide shows how. Its first objective is to introduce the EITI process. The second is to offer specific suggestions about how a legislator may contribute to the EITI process in your country.

Progress Report 2007-2009

The main purpose of this report is to illustrate the progress made in implementing the EITI following our October 2006 global conference in Oslo. The report is available in English and French. Contact the Secretariat for hard copies.

EITI Reports

Making the data of revenue flows from oil, gas and mining activities publicly available is a key activity in the EITI process. This is done in the publication of an EITI Report, which is authored by the independent EITI Report Administrator, and accepted by the country's Multi-stakeholder group.  So far, 19 countries have published EITI Reports.

EITI Publications list

The EITI International Secretariat has during the last two years developed a wide range of publications and materials in several different languages about the EITI. This sheet provides an overview of the material that is currently available to all stakeholders.

Heads in the sand

The report "Heads in the sand: Governments ignore the oil supply crunch and threaten the climate" by Global Witness argues that governments have failed to recognise the oil supply crunch. The report calls for governments to officially acknowledge the crunch and to shift urgently into safe sustainable energy alterntives.
